Bondtech INDX Nozzle Swap

Bondtech INDX Development Kit: The Nozzle-Swapping Upgrade That Now Works on Any 3D Printer

Spread the love

If you’ve been watching the nozzle-swapping arms race in desktop 3D printing and thinking it was only for Prusa owners, today changes that.

Bondtech just opened orders for the INDX Development Kit, and this one is built specifically for DIY builders and anyone running a custom machine. Orders went live this morning at 9 AM CEST (3 AM Eastern), and stock is limited, so this isn’t one to sit on.

What Is INDX?

INDX is Bondtech’s modular nozzle-swapping system. The idea is simple: instead of unscrewing and swapping nozzles by hand, which involves heat, tools, and a decent chance of burning yourself. INDX lets you pull a nozzle off and snap a new one in within seconds. No tools. No waiting for things to cool down.

The system uses inductive heating, meaning each nozzle heats itself independently once seated. You can swap between nozzle sizes, materials, anything you need, mid-session, without the usual hassle.

Until now, INDX has mostly lived in the Prusa ecosystem. The original launch was paired tightly with Prusa hardware, which left a lot of people with custom CoreXY builds or modified printers on the outside looking in.

The Development Kit changes that.

Who the Development Kit Is For

This is aimed squarely at people who build their own machines or run printers that aren’t Prusa. If you’ve got a custom Voron, a heavily modded Ender, or any DIY build where you’ve always had to wrench your nozzles the old-fashioned way, this is the kit that lets you retrofit INDX onto your setup.

It’s a development kit, which means it’s designed for people who are comfortable doing that kind of integration work. This isn’t a plug-and-play upgrade you bolt on in an afternoon. But for the right builder, it opens up a genuinely useful system to machines that previously had no path to it.

What It’ll Cost You

Bondtech hasn’t published the price yet, but they’ve confirmed it will be higher than the limited Founder’s Edition that went out earlier this year. Given the Founder’s Edition pricing, expect to plan accordingly.

Should You Buy It?

If you’re running a custom build and nozzle changes are a pain point in your workflow, this is worth a serious look. The INDX system is well-regarded, it’s not vaporware, it’s a real product that Prusa users have been running for a while now.

The limited stock situation is real. Bondtech flagged it in their announcement and suggested logging into their website ahead of the launch window to be ready. If you’ve been on the fence, this is the time to decide.

Stock is available now at bondtech.se.
