Star Wars Inspired 3D Prints

STAR WARS LOGO STL

Today being May 4th I thought I would put together some amazing 3D Print STL files for you to have a look at!

All files are hosted on Thingiverse and I have included direct links to each one to make it easier for you to go straight to the STL files.

“May the force be with you..”

Star Wars 3D Printing Ideas

Star Wars Episode VII Storm Trooper Helmet Bust STL

STAR WARS STORM TROOPER STL

OK! well now we know this is the actual helmet I took the old one, refined it some more, fixed the slant on the ear section, added the little props on the side of the head.

All files have been processed with meshmixer and netfabb so they are all watertight ready for printing. I included the helmet and base separately for those that don’t want to print the whole thing in one go.

Star wars is copyright Disney.. yada yada.. no printing and selling or Walt will rise from his cryogenic chamber and have you in court! ;p

Darth Vader Bust (fan art)

Darth Vader bust

Dun Dun Dun dun DUN Dun dun DUN Dun…

Now, everyone, stop requesting Darth Vader! He’s here! Print him! Be happy!

My first memory of Vader is the scene in Empire where he chops off Luke’s hand. I was probably way too young to watch it because it made such a lasting impression on me. While these days I’m more of a Trekker than a Star Wars fan I still enjoy the movies greatly (with a couple of exceptions), and sculpting Vader was ultimately inevitable.

I see you have re-designed him a bit…

I wanted to leave my own mark on this Vader, so I redesigned his body a bit, which I hope you don’t mind. I believe the spirit of Vader is still there. I left the helmet as canon as I could!

This is fan art, provided for free, and I fully acknowledge the Darth Vader likeness is the property of Lucasfilm/Disney.

So does this print without supports as well?

    Yes!

    The body

Now, the body part leans quite heavily, so put nice wide brim on it to keep it in place, and if it makes you feel safer put some supports down as well. The body can also be printed without infill, which is how I printed mine.

    The base

The base needs infill until the three little “feet” end, but beyond that it can be printed without it. Shouldn’t be any need on any printer for supports.

I printed this on my CR-10S using some PLA (from 3DNet, no affiliation), and the following settings (note this is just how I printed mine, not a straight out print guide):

    Layer height: 0.12mm
    Nozzle: 0.4mm
    Perimeter: 1.2mm (3 perimeters)
Speed: 60mm/s (but S3D slows it down mostly)
    Top/bottom # layers: 6
    Infill: 10% rectilinear (on base)
Print time: Probably a total of 30 hours

X-Wing Model Kit Card REDUX

XWING MODEL 3D Print

An X-Wing starfighter to hang from your Christmas tree, light fixture, or rear view mirror, the possibilities are endless!

One year ago today I uploaded my first kit of many, the X-Wing starfighter, which is still my most popular to date. So as a wee bit of an anniversary celebration I have remastered this kit with some of the things I’ve picked up along the way, such as a re-positioned hanging loop, detailed wings, and more accurate proportions. The original model made it as high as #7 most popular of the last year, and with a whopping 67,300+ downloads I can’t help but be just a little proud of myself!

3D printing really helped rekindle my love for 3D modelling years after finishing university, and these kits have kept me busy and sane through a pandemic! Thank you everybody around the world for your downloads, makes, donations, and amazing words of support, I appreciate every last bit! 🙂

My other Star Wars kits:

Y-Wing
B-Wing

Original inspiration:
Tie Fighter by Edabot
Snowflake by Atry

And while I can’t take full credit, there’s since been a wave of other great creators throwing out even more kits, so be sure to check these awesome folk out too!

2 variants of the kit this time, one with tolerances and another without for those that found the original too loose. Frameless versions and all individual part files also available for those not so interested in the kit card format!

It’s a nice snap fit for me and my printer, results may vary! To tweak the tightness, simply increase or decrease the Z height in your slicer, otherwise a little glue can go a long way!

No tools required, however I would recommend some wire snippers and a small blade for clean-up 🙂

STAR WARS LOGO STL 3D Print

This design is formed by two divided pieces. Perfect for geek’s houses!

You will need black and yellow filament (or just use acrylic paint). I used the “stop at height” Cura plugin to change the filament to yellow. With the original file I reccomend to stop at height 27 mm (with a total height of 30 mm)

UPDATE: You can also use the split versions, just print the bottom part in brack and the upper part in yellow and glue it together.

The result in my opinion is very cool, hope you like it!

AT-AT Star Wars 3D Print STL FIle

AT-AT 3D Print File

This design is an AT_AT Imperial Walker. It was printed at a total length of 2ft long and 2ft tall. It took about 160 hrs to print. The original model was taken from the internet. I optimized it to be 3d printed. I also, redesigned the neck and made the legs, feet and neck articulated.

AT_AT Imperial Walker is Copyrighted by Disney Corporation. The model is for personal use only.

  • Notes:

The body pieces are in 4 sections. I printed the two front sections and two back section together nested. This eliminated the need for extra support material. Some of the smaller delicate parts, like the guns I printed with rafts and supports. I use Simplify 3D and their suggest supports.

Post-Printing

Finishing of the AT_AT

The model will require some sanding to fit together correctly. The hip and knee joints will need to be sanded down to get them to move correctly. I primed and painted the model.
