Introducing the PolyDryer – A Game Changer in Filament Storage

Polydryer Polymaker Filament Dryer

The PolyDryer is not just any storage solution; it’s a modular dry box system with a detachable active dryer base that revolutionizes the way we store and care for 3D printing filaments.

Polymaker has introduced a significant innovation with their latest product, the PolyDryer, which was launched just yesterday.

This system features a straightforward, sealed dry box and a detachable active dryer base, offering a modular approach to filament storage that many didn’t realize was necessary until now.

Priced at around $80 for both the dryer dock and the modular storage box, the PolyDryer is more expensive than similar products from brands like Sunlu or Creality, which are available for about $50. However, these alternatives do not offer the same long-term storage solution for multiple spools that the PolyDryer does.

Each of the modular storage boxes, costing about $30, is equipped with desiccant storage and a humidity indicator.

To dry a spool, simply remove the seals from the bottom and insert the dryer dock, avoiding the hassle of moving spools from an active dryer to another container or sealed bag. This feature offers a substantial convenience for the cost.

High Cost But Worth It?

While the price may be steep for storing single spools, those with a smaller collection of materials or particularly moisture-sensitive filaments will find the PolyDryer an excellent, cost-effective solution.

Polymaker has further enhanced the PolyDryer by promising printable add-ons that will soon be available.

These accessories aim to provide options for hanging or connecting the boxes, with announcements to be made on Polymaker’s Printables brand page in the near future.

The PolyDryer features a sealable filament port that accommodates 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm filaments and includes a central holder to secure smaller spool sizes, although it is limited to 1 kg spools.

According to Polymaker, the seals on the PolyDryer are so robust that they caused the dry box to inflate during smoke tests, a testament to their effectiveness.

PolyDryer Development

In developing the PolyDryer, Polymaker engaged with its community on Discord to brainstorm ideas, acknowledging their contributions on the product page—a nice touch showing the company values customer input.

Currently, the PolyDryer’s $80 dryer dock combo has sold out shortly after its release, but the $30 storage boxes are available for purchase, allowing users to start integrating these into their filament management system right away.

The PolyDryer exemplifies Polymaker’s commitment to innovation, community engagement, and enhancing the 3D printing experience.
