Sovol Teases Its First Multi-Filament 3D Printer
Sovol looks like it is finally stepping into the multi-color 3D printing space after teasing a new machine on social media this week. The company shared a dark silhouette image alongside the words “multi-filament” and “multi-color,” giving the 3D printing community an early glimpse at what could be one of its most important launches yet.

What makes this teaser especially interesting is that Sovol has largely been known for single-material and single-color machines up to now. That means this upcoming release could mark a major shift for the brand as it moves into a category that has become increasingly competitive and increasingly popular with hobbyists and makers who want more creative freedom straight from the printer.
From the teaser image, some observers believe the new machine may be based on the SV08 Max platform, paired with a new multi-material system. Reports suggest the setup appears to show several separate filament paths feeding into the machine, which has led to speculation that Sovol could be working on a more advanced multi-feed system rather than a basic color add-on. At this stage, though, Sovol has not officially confirmed the final design, feature list, or how the system will work.
That uncertainty is part of what makes the announcement so intriguing. Right now, it is not clear whether this will be a completely new printer, an upgrade path for existing Sovol users, or a mix of both. If Sovol can deliver a strong multi-filament solution while keeping to the company’s usual value-focused approach, it could end up being a very attractive option for users who want multi-color printing without jumping to more expensive ecosystems.
There are still some questions hanging over the reveal. One point already being discussed is filament management. Based on the teaser, the filament appears to sit outside of an enclosed dry storage system, which may concern users who regularly print with materials that are sensitive to moisture. Of course, this could change before launch, or Sovol could offer a separate dry box solution as an accessory. For now, we only have a first look, not the full picture.
Even so, this teaser is enough to show that Sovol wants a seat at the table in the growing multi-color and multi-material segment. If the company can combine open-source flexibility with an easy-to-use color system, this could be a very interesting release to watch over the next few weeks.
