Prusa Research has unveiled a new addition to its high-performance material line: Prusament PC Space-Grade Black. This filament, designed for demanding applications, offers exceptional durability, heat resistance, and strength, making it well-suited for professional engineering and industrial use.

Polycarbonate (PC) filaments are known for their toughness, but they can also be tricky to print. Prusa has addressed this by optimizing its formula for improved printability, reducing warping issues while retaining the mechanical advantages of PC. The new material can withstand temperatures of up to 113 °C, ensuring stability even in high-heat environments.

The “Space-Grade” label is more than just a catchy name—Prusa highlights that this filament is reinforced with carbon fibers. This not only strengthens prints but also reduces shrinkage, resulting in more accurate and reliable parts. The matte black finish also gives models a professional look right off the printer.

Prusa recommends using an enclosed printer, such as the Original Prusa MK4 with Enclosure, to get the best results with PC Space-Grade Black. The filament is now available through Prusa’s official store.

For engineers, makers, and businesses that rely on functional parts, this new Prusament filament expands the possibilities of desktop 3D printing.

Prusa recently also added multi printer recognition to its mobile slicer EasyPrint you can read more about that here.
