“Faster Print Speeds” Coming Soon: UltiMaker’s Upcoming Reveal
UltiMaker recently teased an upcoming announcement set for early next week, sharing a post on X.
The post reads, “Expect faster print speeds, more possibilities, and the power to bring your ideas to life faster than ever,” accompanied by a short clip. The video features a running 3D print, with “MakerBot / October 22-2024” embossed diagonally into the infill. It then transitions to a view of a white 3D printer, showcasing a spool of filament spinning inside a transparent enclosure.

UltiMaker, the team behind the popular Cura slicer and Thingiverse model repository, also produces a variety of 3D printers, mostly geared toward professional use—like their latest, the Factor 4. With such a diverse range of offerings, it’s anyone’s guess what their new teaser is hinting at.
What we do know is that it promises “faster print speeds.” Just last October, UltiMaker rolled out an update to Cura for their S series printers that supposedly doubled print speeds, while maintaining a success rate above 95%. This new teaser could be hinting at more slicer upgrades, possibly to infill, but a speed update of this magnitude two years in a row seems a bit unlikely. More realistically, it could mean a new printer with a different approach to its internal mechanics.
Either way, we won’t have to speculate for much longer—the reveal happens next Tuesday.
