Cryogrip Frostbite Plate Review: Best Build Plate for PLA & PETG?
In this article, I review the Biqu Cryogrip Frostbite build plate and Panda Edge magnetic scraper. The Frostbite plate, perfect for PLA and PETG, offers excellent adhesion with a GSI of 10, while the Pro Glacia plate supports multi-material printing at higher temps. After a successful 7.5-hour print test and smooth AMS installation (with a few tweaks), I’m impressed — the Frostbite plate outperforms the A1 cool plate without needing any adjustments. Highly recommend for hassle-free 3D printing!

It’s designed specifically for PLA and PETG, featuring a double-sided textured surface. This helps prints stick better during printing but also pop off easily once cooled — no more wrestling with stuck models!

🥇 For Multi-Materials: Cryogrip Pro Glacia
If you print with a wider range of materials, there’s also the Cryogrip Pro Glacia plate.
It’s made for multi-material printing and can handle higher bed temperatures.
Depending on what you print most, you can pick the surface that suits your projects best!
📏 Adhesion Strength: Grip Strength Index (GSI)
Cryogrip also uses a Grip Strength Index (GSI) to measure adhesion strength:
- Frostbite: GSI of 10 (super strong for PLA/PETG)
- Pro Glacia: GSI of 8 (strong, but better for multiple materials)
It’s a neat way to easily compare how “sticky” each plate is.
🖨️ 7.5-Hour Print Test Success!
To really put the Frostbite plate to the test, I ran a 7.5-hour print — and it finished beautifully!
Zero lifting, no adhesion issues, and much better performance compared to my old build plates.
⚙️ AMS Installation Success (with a Few Tweaks)
On top of that, I also completed installing the AMS (Automatic Material System).
It wasn’t 100% plug-and-play — I had to make some small adjustments — but overall, it’s working great!

Overall, the Cryogrip Frostbite plate gets a big thumbs up from me!
It offers fantastic adhesion without needing fiddling or hacks — a huge improvement over the A1 cool plate, which gave me issues before.
