Bambu Lab Confirms Safety Issue on Older A1 Printers
Bambu Lab has responded to growing community concerns about some early A1 machines after users reported cases of internal parts getting far hotter than expected. The company confirmed that a small number of older units used an earlier version of the power distribution board which, in rare situations, could overheat.

The issue first gained attention after several makers shared photos online showing heat damage around the AC board inside their printers. A popular YouTube teardown from the 3D Musketeers channel added more visibility and pushed Bambu Lab to investigate further.
Bambu Lab says the risk is low and that newer A1 printers already use an updated board that removes the weak point. If you bought an A1 during the early production run, the company recommends checking your serial number and contacting support to see whether your machine qualifies for a replacement part.
For everyday users this is a good reminder that 3D printers are still electrical devices that need a bit of respect. Running a printer through a quality surge protector, keeping the area well ventilated, and giving the machine a quick visual check now and then can make a big difference.
If your A1 shows any unusual smells, discoloured plastic, or unexpected heat around the power section, stop the print and reach out to Bambu Lab rather than carrying on. The company has been quick to help affected owners and is treating the matter seriously.
Most A1 users will never see this problem, but it is always better to be informed. I will keep an eye on any further updates and share them here on the site.
