Whether you’re just starting out or have been printing for a while, we all know the frustration of a print going wrong. But don’t worry, you’re not alone! Let’s dive into some common 3d printing issues and how to fix them. 👇


1. Prints Not Sticking to the Bed? 🛌

Issue: Your print starts fine but then, halfway through, it detaches from the bed. Ugh, the struggle is real!

Fix: Make sure your bed is level and clean. You might also want to try a different surface like blue painter’s tape or a glue stick to help with adhesion. Increasing the bed temperature slightly might do the trick if all else fails.


2. Layer Shifting 🧱

Issue: Your print looks like it’s been pushed sideways mid-way through. Not cool!

Fix: This could be due to loose belts or something physically blocking the print head. Tighten up those belts and make sure the print area is clear. Also, check your printer’s speed settings—sometimes slowing it down helps.


3. Under-Extrusion 🥤

Issue: Parts of your print look thin or missing, almost like the printer ran out of filament, but you know it didn’t.

Fix: Check if your nozzle is partially clogged and clean it if necessary. Also, ensure your filament is feeding smoothly—sometimes it gets caught or tangled. Increasing the extrusion multiplier in your slicer software can also help.


4. Stringing or Oozing 🕸️

Issue: Your print has unwanted strings between the parts, making it look like a spider web exploded on it.

Fix: Increase your retraction settings in the slicer. You can also try lowering the print temperature slightly. These adjustments help reduce the filament’s tendency to ooze out during travel moves.

Issue: The edges of your print are curling up, making it look more like a warped record than the cool design you had in mind.

Fix: Warping usually happens when the print cools down too quickly. Try increasing the bed temperature or adding a brim to your print. Also, consider using an enclosure to keep the temperature consistent.
